Who we are

Leaping Wing Ltd is the controller of the personal data collected by this calculator. You can reach us through our contact page.

What we collect

• Your name, email address and company, which you enter to sign up.
• Whether you want to receive regulatory information and updates from us.
• When you signed up and signed in.

The KML/KMZ files you load and the results you calculate are processed entirely in your browser. They are not uploaded to us or stored by us. So that nothing is lost when you open the sign-in link, your file and settings are kept in your own browser's local storage on this device for up to 30 days. They never reach us.

Sign-in and cookies. We email you a one-time sign-in link (valid for 30 minutes) instead of using a password. Signing in sets one cookie, sora_session, which is strictly necessary to keep you signed in. With "Remember me" it lasts 90 days; otherwise it ends after 12 hours, or when you close your browser. It is not used for tracking or advertising.

Why we use it

• To give you access to the calculator and keep a record of who uses it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a free tool and understanding who it serves.
• To send you regulatory information and updates (for example changes to SORA and UK drone regulation, and related Leaping Wing services). This is offered when you sign in, with the box ticked; untick it if you'd rather not receive them. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping business users of our tools informed. You can turn updates off at any time from the calculator ("Regulatory updates: turn off"), by replying to any email, or via our contact page.

Where it is kept and for how long

Your details are stored on our website hosting provider's servers (Hostinger), in a location that is not publicly accessible. We keep them for up to 24 months after you last use the calculator, or until you ask us to delete them. We do not sell or share your details with anyone else.

Other services the calculator uses

To draw the map and run, your browser loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap and software libraries from public content delivery networks (cdnjs, jsDelivr). These services receive your IP address as part of normal web requests, under their own privacy policies. They do not receive your name, email or company.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, object to how we use it, or opt out of contact, by contacting us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
